A bubbler is a handheld glass pipe with a small water chamber — it sits between a dry hand pipe and a full bong, filtering smoke through water for a smoother pull in something that still fits in a pocket. They are an easy upsell for customers who want cooler hits than a dry hand pipe gives but do not want to carry a full bong. Smoke shops and dispensaries stock bubblers as the bridge piece, and we keep hammer, Sherlock, and sidecar shapes in the case. Round out the setup with bowls and downstems for replacements.
Bubblers move best when you carry a few shapes and a couple of price points, since buyers pick by feel and by how the piece sits in the hand.
A bubbler is a glass smoking pipe with a built-in water chamber that cools and filters smoke as you draw. It works like a small bong but is shaped to hold in one hand, with a bowl, a carb hole, and a mouthpiece all on one piece. You add a little water through the mouthpiece, pack the bowl, and the smoke bubbles through the water before it reaches your lungs — that is where the name comes from.
The difference is size and water volume: a bong is a larger standing water pipe, while a bubbler is a smaller handheld version of the same idea. A bong sits on the table, usually has a removable bowl and downstem, and holds more water for heavier filtration. A bubbler is one fused piece you hold in your hand, holds less water, and trades some filtration for portability. A customer who finds a bong too big and a dry pipe too harsh is the exact bubbler buyer.
A bubbler gives a smoother, cooler hit than a dry pipe because the water filters and cools the smoke, while a dry hand pipe passes it straight through. The trade-off is upkeep — a bubbler needs water and gets dirty faster, where a dry pipe is grab-and-go. Stock both and let the customer choose: dry pipes for the cheapest sale, bubblers for the buyer who wants a step up without going to a full rig.
To use a bubbler, fill the chamber with enough water to cover the downstem or percolator, pack the bowl, then light and draw while covering the carb hole. Release the carb to clear the chamber. Water level is the main thing — too little and it does not filter, too much and it splashes into the mouthpiece. Tell retail staff to test the level once over a sink before the first pull so they can coach customers.
Clean a bubbler by emptying the water, adding isopropyl alcohol and coarse salt, capping the openings, and shaking until the resin breaks loose, then rinsing with hot water. Because the bowl and chamber are usually one fused piece, bubblers need cleaning more often than a bong with a removable bowl. Pair the category with bong cleaner at the counter — it is a steady add-on sale every time someone buys a water piece.
Most bubblers are one fused piece with no joint, so there is nothing to size or swap. The exceptions are removable-bowl bubblers, which use a standard 10mm or 14mm slide bowl just like a bong — check the joint before pairing a replacement. If a piece takes a slide, a customer can keep a spare bowl so they never lose a session to a broken one.
No. We sell wholesale bubblers with no minimums, no pallet commitments. Order three to test a shape or thirty to fill the case — reorder whatever moves.
You’ll need a seller’s permit or sales-tax (resale) certificate to open a wholesale account — that’s it. No medical or cannabis license is required, since glass and accessories aren’t controlled. Sign up, send us the cert, and we’ll get you approved.
Most shops price bubblers at about 2x the wholesale price, plus roughly $10 on top for wiggle room. You set your own retail price — bubblers tend to hold margin well because customers shop them by shape and feel, not by hunting the lowest sticker.
Orders ship in about 2 business days. We are a small crew based in Huntington Beach, California, with over a decade in the industry, so restocks do not sit in a queue — we pull, pack, and get them out.
Send us a photo and we replace it — breakage in transit is on us. That is the Arrival Guarantee.
We run our own line, so custom and private-label work is possible. Send us an email for a quote.
A bubbler covers the middle of the case — pair it with hand pipes below it and bongs above it so a customer can step up at any budget. Keep bowls and downstems and bong cleaner on the same shelf for the add-on sale, and a grinder near the register to round out the basket.
